(AP) — Brock Wilken hit three of Wake Forest’s record-tying nine home runs, and the Demon Deacons routed Alabama 22-5 on Sunday to win the Winston-Salem Super Regional.The Demon Deacons won both games in the super regional series, advancing to the College World Series for the third time and first time since winning the championship in 1955.Wilken went deep in the first, third and ninth innings, increasing his total to an ACC-record 70 career home runs.Marek Houston blasted a grand slam and Danny Corona hit two home runs with six RBIs. Tommy Hawke, Nick Kurtz and Bennett Lee also went deep for Wake Forest. The nine home runs tie the record for an NCAA Tournament game. (CNN) — A punch from UFC star Conor McGregor sent the Miami Heat’s mascot, Burnie, to the emergency room of a local hospital during the NBA Finals on Friday, according to The Athletic.McGregor punched the performer wearing the mascot costume twice in a pre-planned skit in the third quarter during Game 4 of the NBA Finals at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The skit was meant to promote a pain relief spray, which McGregor sprayed on Burnie after the blows.The man playing Burnie was sent home from the hospital after receiving pain medication and is doing well, according to The Athletic report, which cited a league source. State police are investigating a reported sexual assault on Soldiers Field Road in Brighton early Sunday morning. A man said he was walking along the road around 3 and 4 a.m. when a male driver pulled up and asked him for directions. When he said he couldn’t help, the vehicle followed him for a short period before he said the driver got out, approached him on foot, and physically and sexually assaulted him.The victim said he fought back and the suspect returned to his vehicle.The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall with a Middle-Eastern accent. The vehicle he was driving may have been a gray Honda-CRV SUV. ULUKHAKTOK, N.W.T. — The first Indigenous woman to lead a provincial or territorial government in Canada is being honoured with a new stamp.Canada Post says it has unveiled a stamp in honour of Nellie Cournoyea, known as a champion of her people in Canada’s western Arctic.Cournoyea was the first Indigenous woman, and second woman, to head a provincial or territorial government in Canada, serving as premier of the Northwest Territories from 1991 to 1995.Canada Post says in a statement Cournoyea is known for the unwavering vision, work ethic and heart that have guided her fight for Indigenous self-determination and Inuit empowerment.Canada Post says the stamp is one of three Indigenous leaders stamps that will be released on June 21.The postal operator is also issuing stamps paying tribute to B.C.
