TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, Curtis D. Black, 32, was sentenced to 20 months in prison. Black will serve three years of post-release supervision. Black entered a guilty plea and admitted he had an unregistered PA-15 Multi-Caliber Palmetto State Armory rifle. The rifle was not registered to Black. (AP) — A suspect who killed five people at a Colorado Springs nightclub in 2022 was sentenced to life in prison for murder on Monday, after victims called the defendant a “monster” who hunted down LGBTQ+ patrons in a calculated attack.Anderson Lee Aldrich pleaded guilty to five counts of murder and 46 counts of attempted murder – one for each person inside Club Q on the night of the shooting. ST. LOUIS – A man was hospitalized late Sunday evening after he and two acquaintances were shot at by unknown assailants.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened just before 11:45 p.m. in the 4800 block of Northland Avenue, located in the Kingsway East neighborhood.Police claim officers were responding to a ShotSpotter notification in the area. While on their way to that location, officers were told of a shooting victim arriving at a hospital and telling staff he’d been shot on Northland.Officers went to the hospital and discovered the victim, a 35-year-old man, had been shot in the hip and was in critical condition. Five people were killed in a solo-vehicle collision on the 710 Freeway in the Long Beach area Monday morning, authorities said.The deadly crash occurred around 4 a.m. when a single vehicle slammed into an attenuator and caught fire in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the 91 Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.The CHP initially indicated in its traffic incident log that other vehicles crashed into the dark-colored sedan but later confirmed in a press conference that only one vehicle was involved.“Our officers along with the fire department responded to the scene and determined this crash to be a solo crash resulting in five deceased parties,” CHP Officer Angelia Gonzales said.Authorities respond to a fatal crash on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach on June 26, 2023. A woman who was found dead along the 60 Freeway near Moreno Valley 27 years ago was finally identified using genetic genealogy, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.Juana Rosas-Zagal was 41 years old when her body was found along the freeway east of Gilman Springs Road on Jan. 27, 1996.The Los Angeles resident was the victim of a homicide, though no further information was given about how she died, and the case remains unsolved.The case lacked investigative leads and the victim had not been identified for decades.Authorities had developed a composite sketch of her likeness, but who she was remained a mystery.A sketch of Juana Rosas-Zagal was provided by the Riverside County District Attorney's Office. Federal officials say they are investigating after a ground crew member died after being "ingested" into a plane's engine at San Antonio International Airport last week. The Delta flight had arrived in San Antonio from Los Angeles International on Friday at around 10:25 p.m. and was taxing to its gate with one engine on, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement. As the plane was taxiing, "a worker was ingested into that engine," NTSB explained."The NTSB is continuing to gather information about the event," the statement continued. Two Pronounced Dead, Child Hospitalized after 2-Vehicle Collision near Highway 99ELK GROVE, CA (June 26, 2023) – Tuesday evening, Ashley Godinez and another man were killed in a head-on car accident on Dillard Road.Authorities responded to the scene around 9:20 p.m., just east of Highway 99 on June 20th.Per reports, the 27-year-old driver of a 2017 Nissan Rogue was traveling unsafely on the westbound lanes. The Rogue then made a left turn onto the eastbound lanes directly into the path of an oncoming 2016 Nissan Altima, driven by Godinez.As a result, 37-year-old Godinez was unable to avoid striking the Rogue, and they collided head-on.Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.
