In the name of national security, former South Carolina governor and current Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said she wanted to use government authority to ban anonymous speech on social media platforms. “Every person on social media should be verified by their name,” she told Fox News.No matter how many nefarious images of Russian or Chinese disinformation agents one conjures up, this is a no-good, very bad idea.Anonymous speech is a hallowed American tradition. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that if it had never been permitted, the United States as we know it may never have existed. Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania, secretly penned by John Dickinson, were instrumental in uniting colonists against British misrule. Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison published their stirring Federalist essays defending the proposed U.S. Constitution under the pseudonym “Publius.” Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson regular...Local pancreatic cancer survivor raising awareness with hockey

PULLMAN, Wash. – Deion Sanders barely got through a game on Friday night because of flu-like symptoms that had impacted him all day.“I’m a little under the weather so this is gonna be a little foggy for me,” the Colorado head coach said as he sat down for a postgame press conference. The illness was hardly the worst thing he dealt with, though.Sanders’ struggling Buffaloes hit their low point at Gesa Field, thumped by host Washington State 56-14 in a game that was every bit as disastrous as that score would indicate.“Great win by our opponents,” Sanders said. “They played a heck of a game, coached a heck of a game. They came to play handily from the start to the finish. Obviously it don’t look like we did.”CU (4-7, 1-7 Pac-12) is now in sole possession of last place in the conference after its fifth straight loss. The first four games in this current losing streak came by a combined 25 points, but this one was never really close, despite Washington State coming in riding a six-game l...Cryptic banner hints at Rolling Stones return to Denver in 2024

When a red and black banner featuring the Rolling Stones’ iconic logo mysteriously appeared on the side of Mile High stadium (then called Invesco Field, now called Empower) in November 2018, rock-and-roll fans around Colorado began feeling some nervous satisfaction. Were the Stones returning to Denver to play a show? With Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts all being in their 70s at the time, it seemed like any chance to see the band — which has been rocking since 1962 — was a gift worth accepting. The band did play, in August 2019 (the original May date was postponed after Jagged had heart surgery), to a sold-out crowd, and they absolutely crushed it. But that would be the last time Watts, the drummer, would be in town; he died two years later at the age of 80.Related: Rolling Stones conjure moments of awe in return to DenverLate last week, another banner was unfurled at the stadium — and Tweeted about by music promoter AEG Presents Roc...Quick Cannabidiol — What’s The Fastest Way To Feel CBD’s Effects?

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Both cheers and jeers for Argentina’s right-wing presidential candidate resounded with acoustic perfection inside the country’s legendary Colón Theater, laying bare the country’s polarization on the eve of Sunday’s runoff. The audience had gathered Friday evening in Latin America’s premiere opera house that is world-renowned for its acoustics to watch a performance of “Madama Butterfly” — but Javier Milei soon became the main event. A group began insulting him as he sat in the front row of a box alongside his girlfriend.“Milei, trash, you are the dictatorship!” some attendees chanted at the candidate. He has downplayed Argentina’s bloody 1976-1983 military rule, saying the number of its victims is far below what human rights organizations have long claimed, among other controversial positions. Some videos on social media also showed a few orchestra musicians playing the “Peronist March,” an anthem of the political party of Economy Minister Sergio M...Matt Wallace birdies every hole on back 9 in Dubai and matches European tour best

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Matt Wallace made nine consecutive birdies Saturday, all of them on the back nine for a 12-under 60 in the DP World Tour Championship.Wallace had a chance at the only the second 59 in European tour history. He had 202 yards to the green on the par-5 18th on the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. But he hit into a bunker, and hit out to inches from the cup for a tap-in birdie. The nine consecutive birdies equal the European tour’s best by James Nitties of Australia in the 2019 Vic Open. The tour said it would not be considered a record because of preferred lies from overnight rains. Bernd Wiesberger in the 2017 Maybank Championship in Malaysia also had nine birdies in a row while playing under preferred lies.Wallace also matched the European best — but not an official record — with 12 birdies in one round.
