Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 10:13:59 GMT

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The city has been separating some of its water from the rest of the flow. Over the last several years, a $17 million project has separated stormwater from the Glens Falls sewer line - and the change has gone on to pay dividends. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! This week, the city released data on why the separation matters. The process has reduced the amount of sewage to bypass (overflow) through the Glens Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant and into the Hudson River by as much as 85%. 50% fewer bypasses have been seen overall, according to Mayor Bill Collins. Sewage that does make it into the plant is blended with treated water and let into the Hudson River, at what the city says is a minimal impact on the water. The short version: Separating the flows into their own sets of pipes means less sewage getting caught up in the stormwater flow and making it into the Hudson River. Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 10:13:59 GMT

Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II has every reason in the world to gloat.Just two seasons into his NFL career, Surtain accomplished something most players take several years to achieve when he was named a Pro Bowl starter and first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press and NFL Players Association in 2022.And he just turned 23 in April.Despite his near instant on-field success, Surtain was hesitant to say where he ranks among the other talented corners in the league. So his teammate and veteran safety Justin Simmons did it for him.“Number one,” Simmons blurted out while standing in a corner during Surtain’s news conference last week.Indeed, Surtain has a legit argument for being the best cornerback in the league. But as he gears up for his third season, the Broncos star is more worried about being a better leader and improving his craft.“I think it’s leading by example, coaching up the younger guys that we got coming in the (defensive backs) room,” he said. “That’s a focal...

Biden, DeSantis to visit Northern California June 19 in political cosmic collision

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 10:13:59 GMT

It almost surely wasn’t planned this way. But President Joe Biden and one of his top potential Republican rivals for re-election next year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, will both descend upon Northern California June 19.The White House, which announced the Democratic president’s visit to an undisclosed Bay Area location Tuesday afternoon, said nothing more about his trip to the Golden State through June 21, saying only that additional details will follow. But the presidential visit comes the same day GOP supporters will host DeSantis for a $3,300-a-head breakfast in Sacramento. That’s where DeSantis just made news sending 36 Latin American migrants from Texas to California’s capital, where Democratic leaders have proclaimed the state a sanctuary for undocumented border crossers, and now suggest the Florida governor is a kidnapper.“I’d be surprised if either one intentionally designed their trips to coincide with each other,” said Larry Gerston,...
