CHICAGO — Attorneys Ben Crump, Steven M. Levin and Margaret Battersby Black, along with former student athlete Lloyd Yates, will be holding a press conference Monday to announce the filing of another lawsuit against Northwestern University.This will be at least the fourth formal filing of a lawsuit against Northwestern since the hazing allegations scandal against the football team went public earlier this month. LOUIS – The head of the civilian oversight board for the St. Louis City Justice Center says the facility is like a powder keg.The jail experienced a lot of unrest and riots in 2021, with more than 100 inmates setting fires at the jail and throwing items out of the window.The civilian board was established afterward with the blessing of Mayor Tishaura Jones to look into the problem at the jail and recommend solutions.“It’s a powder keg waiting to explode,” Rev. Darryl Gray, chairman of the Detention Facilities Oversight Board. “The same ingredients that caused the four riots to happen under Lyda Krewson, we believe still exist, and so it’s a perfect storm. Rescue crews with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department airlifted one of their search and rescue canines out of the mountains after it became overheated during a search for a missing hiker, authorities announced on Sunday. Authorities were searching for missing 53-year-old Colin Brian Walker who was last seen on July 15 near a trailhead in Monrovia. Surveillance video from a nearby resident captured Walker heading toward the trailhead around 6:23 a.m. He has not been seen or heard from since, police said. (KRON) -- Authorities are warning residents about a bear sighting Sunday evening, the Novato Police Department (NPD) announced. A mother bear and two cubs were reported to be in the area of Miwok Park at 2200 Novato Blvd.NPD is advising the community to "use extreme caution" when entering the area. Police said to be especially aware of places that are wood or contain lots of brush. (KRON) -- A two-car collision Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man, the Livermore Police Department said.
